(4-16-22) Tune in, Create Your Own Video, and Tell the World -- Why I'm a Democrat!

By Paul Anger

2nd vice chair for Public Relations, Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee

Starting Monday morning, April 18, the Jefferson Parish Democrats will post videos – and you’re invited to participate! -- as diverse Dems explain Why I’m a Democrat! Their reasons are heartfelt, unique, personal, inspiring.

An LSU senior explains that only Democrats want to solve student loan debt and enact living wages. A realtor describes how Democrats help when some people can’t pull themselves up by their bootstraps -- because “they don’t have boots.” A retired Air Force lieutenant colonel says only Democrats will fight for America’s most critical existential threats – the attack on voting rights that imperils our Democracy and the global warming that imperils our planet. A Brown University student, hoping for a career in health policy, says only Dems truly improve health care for all.  A Latino entrepreneur says Republicans woo Latinos at election time, then forget them. An attorney says she’s a Democrat because Dems don’t prioritize their own pocketbooks – they help those in need.

State Rep. Kyle Green says Democrats are clearly the only pro-family party. Louisiana Democratic Chair Katie Bernhardt says Dems don’t focus on things – they put people first. And Ragin’ Cajun James Carville recalls the epiphany that made him a Democrat when he was a teenager at LSU.

With our Why I’m a Democrat! series, we hope to inspire Dems in Louisiana and across the country to spread the word far and wide -- the vast majority of Louisianans and Americans benefit when Democrats are elected. Why? Because Democrats make Americans’ lives better.

Carville’s video will lead off our series, which will continue weekly for the rest of 2022 and into 2023. We’ll post Carville’s epiphany at 7 a.m. Monday on the Jefferson Parish Democrats’ Facebook page – https://tinyurl.com/JPDECfacebook -- and again at noon Friday on our Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/JPDemocrats. Other Why I’m a Democrat! videos will follow, week by week.

If you’d like to have your own Why I’m a Democrat! video featured, please keep it to no more than 50 seconds and send to jpdemocrats@gmail.com with name, hometown & up to 5 words about yourself (attorney, teacher, volunteer, student, retired veteran, etc.).

We’re proud Democrats, ready to make lives better. Let’s explain why!
