On Jan. 19, The Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee (JPDEC) awarded the Blue Horizon Trophy, given for exemplary service to the Democratic Party and its ideals of opportunity and inclusion, to the original Ragin’ Cajun James Carville (photo below) — Louisiana native, architect of former President Bill Clinton’s 1992 election campaign, and a unique voice in the Democratic Party for decades. JPDEC honored Carville and seven community members for their service — Bishop James Nelson Brown, Ramona Graham, Trey Mustian, State Rep. Rodney Lyons, Katie Darling, Dr. James Gray and Stanley Crosby. U.S. Rep. Troy Carter was the keynote speaker.
