Located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, the Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee affiliates with and advances the interests of the Democratic Party. We stand for open, inclusive, constitutional government in Jefferson Parish. We unflinchingly advocate for human and civil rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, quality health care and quality schools for all, environmental protection and preservation of quality-of-life services. We support elected officials and political candidates who uphold these core values of the Democratic Party.

WE NEED TO FILL JPDEC VACANCIES!

Our next meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, via Zoom, but we have some homework to do before then. We ask everyone to think about candidates to fill JPDEC vacancies — one at large, two in District 5, and one in District 3. If you have someone in mind, please let Chair Trey Mustian know ASAP. You can also encourage a candidate to directly contact Trey at treymustian@gmail.com.

We intend to formally fill the vacancies at our March meeting. Qualifications and procedures appear in our bylaws but can be summarized as follows:

An at-large candidate must be a registered Democrat residing in Jefferson Parish. For district seats, a registered Democrat must reside in that district. Candidates should declare their intention in writing to Trey Mustian before the Jan. 19 meeting, along with a brief biography or resume. A candidate is required to attend two consecutive JPDEC meetings to be eligible for consideration in March.

            THANKS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
