Highlights From the (JPDEC Presents) Video Discussion With Sen. Carter

On June 11, JPDEC Presented an Hour With State Sen. Troy Carter. It was a fast-moving conversation that you can access on the JPDEC Facebook Page. Highlights: Sen. Carter does believe Louisiana can address needed police reforms, a living wage should be implemented statewide, and the so-called tort reform to lower car insurance rates will only be a gift to insurance companies (limiting our legal options without lowering rates). Regarding the budget, Sen. Carter advocates a constitutional convention to give the state more flexibility on what can be cut -- as is stands, health care, education and quality-of-life services must face the chopping block because so many other options are constitutionally off-limits. He urges us to go beyond form letters to support our agenda — get involved in the community and really reach out to elected representatives.
