Election day is July 11, but you can vote in person early from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at these locations: (1) Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd./Suite 502, Elmwood; or (2) 408 Minor St., Kenner; or (3) the Charles Odom Service Center, 5001 West Bank Expressway/Suite C2, Marrero. (Early voting does not include Sunday, June 21 and 28.)
Here is what’s on the ballot: PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY — Biden, Sanders, Gabbard still appear. Although Biden has clinched the nomination, you have a chance to make your feelings known. JPDEC RACES — Jefferson Council Districts 1 and 3 will elect their representative to the Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee. DEMOCRATIC STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE (DSCC) — One woman (seat A) and one man (seat B) are elected from each statehouse district to sit on the state-wide committee that drives Democratic Party strategy and connects with the local parish Democrats like JPDEC. This is a significant election to drive more effective Democratic Party outcomes across Louisiana, where Democrats have lost ground recently in the legislature despite the election of John Bel Edwards. In Jefferson Parish, the statehouse districts where DSCC races are contested are District 79 (seat A), District 80 (seat B), District 82 (seat B), District 85 (seat B), District 87 (seat B), and District 94 (seat B). Do your research and … VOTE!
