JPDEC Presents: Safe Schools, Safe Voting -- Taking the Pulse of Covid-19's Impact

Please join our discussion as the Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee hosts another Facebook Live event on critically important issues from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16. For notifications of this event, please like our FB page.

Appearing with JPDEC moderator Andrew Lodriguss will be State Rep. Mandie Landry (D-Dist. 91) and Lauren Francis, lead organizer for the Jefferson Parish Federation of Teachers. Rep. Landry, born and raised in Jefferson Parish, has been a strong advocate for women’s rights and voting rights, among other issues. She introduced a bill in the last legislative session that would have made mail-in voting broadly available – before that was rejected by Republicans. Francis has represented teachers’ priorities and concerns and advocated on behalf of education at the community and state levels. We'll consider how we can re-open schools safely, what issues we’ll face in voting safely in the fall, and how we can make our feelings known to state officials. Simply like our JPDEC Facebook page (If you haven’t already) and you will receive notification to join the event. Like us, share, and tune in from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, July 16!
