Located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, the Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee affiliates with and advances the interests of the Democratic Party. We stand for open, inclusive, constitutional government in Jefferson Parish. We unflinchingly advocate for human and civil rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, quality health care and quality schools for all, environmental protection and preservation of quality-of-life services. We support elected officials and political candidates who uphold these core values of the Democratic Party.

Saturday (July 11) is Election Day!

We’re all counting the days until Nov. 3, but Saturday’s election carries its own importance for the Democratic Party, especially in Louisiana. If you haven't already voted early or by mail, please do so!

On the ballot is the Presidential primary -- Joe Biden has clinched the Democratic nomination, but as Louisianans we can still make our feelings known. Also on the ballot are elections for Democratic Party governing bodies. In Jefferson Parish, there are contested races in Council Districts 1 and 3 to elect those who will serve on the JP Democratic Executive Committee. And we will elect one woman and one man by statehouse district to serve on the Democratic State Central Committee. There are many good candidates -- do your research and elect those you believe will inject much needed energy into our party. The bottom line for party officials is to identify, train, support, endorse and elect Democratic candidates for public office -- and as recent legislative elections have shown, we need to do a much better job of that.

Your usual polling place should be open, unless you received notice otherwise from the state. If you find that your polling place is NOT open on Saturday, call the Secretary of State's Office directly at 225-922-2880 to get help.
