The Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee will meet in open session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18. Candidates for the Louisiana Dist. 7 Senate seat have been invited to make presentations and answer questions from JPDEC members, who will then decide whether to endorse. Democratic candidates are Statehouse Dist. 102 Rep. Gary Carter, Dist. 105 Rep. Mack Cormier, Plaquemines Board of Elections Supervisor Joanna Cappielo-Leopold and Dist. 87 Rep. Rodney Lyons. The primary election is Saturday, June 12, with early voting 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, May 28 through Saturday, June 5 (excluding May 30-31).
