JEFF PARISH DEMS RE-ELECT RAVEN LYONS AS CHAIR, WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

               The Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee met Wednesday, April 17, at the General Government Building in Gretna to elect officers for 2024-25 and swear in newly elected members (indicated with an asterisk).

               Raven Lyons of Harvey was re-elected chair. She will oversee all activities of JPDEC and its 31 current members. Other officers:

               Trey Mustian of Jefferson – first vice chair, overseeing candidate engagement and the Elections and Endorsements Subcommittee.

               Leslie Haynes Smith of Harvey – second vice chair, overseeing public relations, press releases, social media, Jeff Talk livestream shows and the Public Relations Subcommittee.

               Michael Flowers of Harvey – third vice chair, overseeing fund-raising activities, the annual Blue Horizon Dinner and the Fund-Raising Subcommittee.

(The annual Blue Horizon Dinner will be held Monday, May 13, at The Four Columns in Harvey.  The 2024 Blue Horizon Award will be presented to former Congressman Cedric Richmond, now serving as senior adviser to the Democratic National Committee. Ticket availability will be announced soon.)

               *Lauren Jewett of Metairie – secretary, overseeing the recording and distribution of JPDEC minutes, activities and agendas. 

               Dwan Hilferty of Metairie – treasurer, overseeing JPDEC operating and fund-raising accounts and the Finance Subcommittee.

               Brandon Trudeaux of Gretna -- sergeant-at-arms.

               *Barry Ranshi, Kenner – parliamentarian.

               Pending approval of new bylaws at its next meeting in May, JPDEC will add a fourth vice chair to direct community engagement, organize voter registration events, oversee the new Voter Engagement Subcommittee and organize support for Democratic candidates endorsed and recommended by JPDEC or the Louisiana Democratic Central Committee, or both.
